Get ready for CUTENESS OVERLOAD! Two puppies commit to each other in an intimate backyard ceremony. Just wait till you see their first lick!
This couple is just the cutest. Lucy, the bride, is an American Eskimo Dog. She spent the first few months of her life in her birth state of Tennessee. She thought she had found a home with some humans in the area, but sadly they returned her to a shelter the day after Christmas 2012. She spent a month in the shelter before she snagged the last spot on a transport up to New York State. Her humans just happened to see a photo of her online and knew they had to adopt her. She went to live with them in Connecticut and life was good as an only child. She spent her days prancing through this white stuff called snow, and chasing squirrels. Then in October 2013, her humans started talking about getting her a roommate. Teddy, a Border Collie mix, showed up shortly after. He was an annoying 12 week old puppy who became obsessed with her instantly. He followed her around, trying to get her attention for 2 whole days before she even acknowledged his presence. Then she found out he was also from Tennessee. He was born to a homeless mother, and had come up to Connecticut with his 7 siblings. Teddy started to grow on Lucy and over the months they became more and more bonded. Then in early 2014, Lucy was attacked by a bully at the dog park and she had to get emergency surgery. Teddy was so worried about her, he didn’t want to leave her side. He went with her to the hospital and helped his humans nurse her back to health. It was then that Lucy knew she wouldn’t mind having Teddy around forever.
Teddy and Lucy decided to have a commitment ceremony in their favorite spot, their backyard! Lucy spent the morning relaxing. She took her normal morning jaunt around the yard before getting dressed for the wedding. Lucy is normally a bit of a tomboy but she wanted to look elegant for the occasion. She borrowed a crystal collar from her human mom and completed the look with a traditional veil. Teddy wanted to look dapper, like the southern gentleman he is. He picked a houndstooth bowtie (his favorite pattern) and french cuffs with crystal cufflinks. Teddy waited in the yard as Lucy processed down the deck stairs. The ceremony was short and sweet, followed by quite the first lick. Lucy and Teddy took some photos in the yard before joining their reception.
The reception décor was happy and fun, just like the couple. They used lots of sunflowers, their human grandma’s favorite flower. They also included accents of aqua, nantucket red, and black and white houndstooth. Their guests enjoyed a 5 star menu and even a dog treat bar! Lucy and Teddy gobbled down pupcakes and pranced the night away.
