People always ask me what the most annoying part of being a wedding photographer is. The bride/groomzillas? The late nights? Hauling all that gear around? Nope. For me the most annoying part of being a wedding photographer is having to constantly ask myself “WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT!!!” I get to see so many unique and cool wedding ideas, it really makes me want to have another wedding (don’t tell my husband). Rob & Sen’s wedding at the Providence Public Library was no exception. They had an impeccably executed literary theme that was perfect for the locale and even more meaningful since they first met in a book store! Among many other details which I will get to shortly….
Ceremony/Reception: Providence Public Library, Providence, Rhode Island
Assistant Photographer: Carolyn Wallace
Caterer: Russell Morin Fine Catering
DJ: Jason Dawson
Officiant: Danna Spencer
Cake: Angela Clarke
Florist: Golden Gate Studios
We started off the evening upstairs in the library. Rob & Sen got ready, and then their bridal party joined them for champagne and photos.
The flower girl and ring bearer got a little instruction on how to perform their duties…
Who, by the way, were ridiculously cute! Photo Credit: Carolyn Wallace
And of course the groomsmen took their jobs very seriously. Photo Credit: Carolyn Wallace
Then we took a few formal portraits with the incredibly beautiful library as the backdrop.
Finally it was time to head downstairs and get the party started! Photo Credit: Carolyn Wallace
The cocktail hour musicians were warming up, so Rob & Sen decided to join in for a song. I didn’t get the back-story on the musicians, but they sounded like they came straight from Broadway!
Afterwards, Rob & Sen noticed their cake for the first time. They were both completely speechless over the intricate detail of the books. Their cake decorator had even included their initials on the books if you looked closely!
FINALLY it was time for guests to start arriving. As they entered the library they first had to search the card catalog for their table assignments. Each table was named for an author, including a quote from that author on the table. Photo Credit: Carolyn Wallace (1st image)
Guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers and then it was time for Rob & Sen to actually get married! Guests gathered around as their officiant performed one of the funniest and heartfelt ceremonies I’ve had the pleasure of photographing.

The officiant concluded the ceremony by saying “I now pronounce you partners for life”
Following the ceremony were speeches, dinner, cake cutting, and their first dance.
Followed by some very special family dances.
Guests took a bunch of selfies, and danced the night away! Congratulations Rob & Sen.
